Founded in 1956 in Jackson, Mississippi, Magnolia Speech School exists to enable children with communication challenges to develop their full potential through spoken language and literacy. Students enrolled typically have been diagnosed with hearing loss or some type of language based disorder such as receptive and or expressive language disorder, speech (articulation) disorders, apraxia, and dyslexia. They have a goal to help their students succeed in the general education setting. The average enrollment time is 2-5 years.
“Magnolia Speech School truly understands the dedication it takes on everyone's part for a deaf child to learn to listen and talk. We will be talking about the extraordinary, life-changing memories and miracles we have witnessed at Magnolia Speech School for years to come!” - John & Sheila Cargile, parents of past students at Magnolia Speech School.
With the added educational challenges brought on by Covid-19, the school needs to purchase technology to help with the “virtual” learning environment their 58 students are in. With the $3,000 they hope to raise they plan to purchase new equipment like tablets, computers, laminator, LED Ring Light, document camera/scanner, external microphones and external headphones. This new equipment will help teachers reach their hearing impaired students. Donate now to support new equipment in their new virtual learning environment.
