Rutherford County Area Habitat for Humanity (RCHFH), a non-profit, non-denominational Christian housing ministry, seeks to bring people together to build homes, communities, and hope. This is done through building quality, energy-efficient, affordable houses while partnering alongside working families. Homes are built by RCHFH construction staff, future homeowners, and community volunteers. After a home is completed, it is sold to the family at no profit with an affordable monthly mortgage. "This opportunity to have my own home, and a safe and nurturing environment for my children to grow up in, will change my family's life forever!" – front line worker and Habitat Future Homeowner, Melody Whitfield.
The $10,000 raised will support the purchase of materials for a Habitat for Humanity house build as part of The Front Line Workers Build project at RCHFH. Did you know that $20 buys a bucket of nails (it takes about 12,000 nails to build a house – or about 40 buckets!), $45 buys a pre-cut bundle of R-19 insulation (their houses need 15 bundles), $90 buys an interior door, $138 buys a double-hung window and $250 buys the front door. All Habitat Future Homeowners complete 50 hours of Financial Literacy and Homeowner Education Classes plus 400 hours of sweat equity to be eligible for a low-interest mortgage to buy their own home. Through this “Virtual Nail Drive” you can “buy” through your donation various materials needed for house construction.
Please give what you can!
