Booneville 2nd Chance Animal Sanctuary, located in Mississippi, provides care and aid for the surrendered and/or abandoned dogs and cats within the city limits of Booneville and the surrounding area. They have created a network of short-term foster homes to care for these animals. The average foster period for the animals is about two weeks during which time the Sanctuary finds the animal a home or places them with an out-of-state rescue organization. As Jessica Sheets, vice president for Booneville 2nd Chance Animal Sanctuary, recently stated, "As you all know, animal rescue doesn’t stop for a global pandemic. The past two months, we took in 135 animals. It is an ever present need in our community, which is why we need to make some repairs to our current foster facilities as well as expand our network of foster families."
With the $3,500 they hope to raise, they plan to purchase new kennels and tarps along with food, blankets and toys which will help them expand their network of foster families. The funds will also help them support the animals currently placed in foster homes. It will allow them to replace old tarps in addition to providing food, blankets and toys for the animals.
