The Roanoke Police Department is dedicated to providing honest, efficient and effective law enforcement services. Their daily objective is to protect life, property and civil liberties for all people in an equitable manner. As officers put their lives on the line each and every day, the Roanoke City Police Association wants to ensure that they are safe. With an increase in active shooter incidents, they are hoping to replace the current tourniquets and holsters that are in use. The ones carried now require a second person to apply them. Hemorrhaging as well as a delay in waiting could cause an officer to lose their life.
In partnership with WoodmenLife Virginia Chapter 66, they hope to raise $7,210 through WoodmenLife ImpactSM to purchase 267 Recon tourniquets and holsters to issue to each member of the police force. “New tourniquets and holsters would make the officers operating alone feel much safer when responding to incidents in the city of Roanoke,” said Lieutenant Jamey Bowdel.
