Roark-Sullivan Lifeway Center, in Charleston, West Virginia, is focused on ending chronic and veteran’s homelessness in the Kanawha Valley. To this end, Roark-Sullivan strives to provide safe, temporary shelter, skill development, and referrals to recovery services to support individuals experiencing homelessness to become self-sufficient.
"I was once lonely and had self-destructive mental tendencies, along with a substance abuse habit. Since I have been blessed to be a part of this program my life has only improved for the better. My father tells me that he loves me again and opportunities have come my way. I would love to work for the organization because it does such beautiful work in people's lives. This program has literally changed my life and my perspective. I still have much work to do on improving but I never could have gotten this far without the incredible staff and support I have received from this organization. Thank you for giving me back my life." - Jeffrey Irving, Program Participant
The $1,000 they hope to raise will go towards the basic needs of participants including bedding, towels, toiletries, etc. These items belong to the individual and they are able to take them with them as they exit to permanent housing. Donate now and help give those experiencing homelessness supplies for their basic needs.
