In Columbia, South Carolina, the Transitions Homeless Center is the largest homeless center in the Midlands providing those homeless 18 years of age and older access to their day center, hot meals, showers, service providers and housing. Clients receive services to help them stabilize their lives, increase their income, and secure permanent housing. The average length of stay for a homeless person to complete their program and move to permanent housing is only five and a half months and since opening in 2011, Transitions has helped over 2880 homeless people move to permanent housing!
With the $5,000 or more they hope to raise, Transitions Homeless Center plansto purchase industrial washers and dryers for the shelter. The new washer/dryers would allow residents to clean their clothes, as well as clean bedding and any incoming donations before dispersing to residents and homeless visitors. It is important to be able to offer clean clothes and blankets to all the homeless in the community who need them. Give now to help purchase new washer/dryers and help those in need have clean clothes!
